Centre for Migration Policy and Inclusive Governance (CMPIG) Invites Scholars to Discuss The Climate Migrants (Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2022
The Centre for Migration Policy and Inclusive Governance (CMPIG) is pleased to announce an upcoming virtual discussion on “The Climate Migrants (Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2022,” scheduled for October 19, 2024, at 5:00 PM (IST) via Google Meet. This event is organized in collaboration with the Anusandhan National Research Foundation Project (CRG/2021/004314).
The program will feature a comprehensive 30-minute presentation of the bill by Mr. Pradyut Bordoloi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), and Ms. Evita Rodrigues, Urban Governance Associate (Transitions Research) and former LAMP Fellow. Following the presentation, Dr. Anjuman Ara Begum, Associate Professor at The Assam Royal Global University, Guwahati, Assam, will provide a critical review of the bill for 15 minutes.
Participants will then have the opportunity to engage in a discussion, sharing insights and questions about the bill and its implications for climate migration and the legislative framework surrounding the protection and rehabilitation of affected communities.
The session will be chaired by Dr. Bijulal M.V, Chairperson of CMPIG and Assistant Professor at the School of International Relations and Politics, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala.
