Centre for Urban Studies drafts the Culture Policy for the City of Kochi

The Centre for Urban Studies (CUS) handed over the Culture Policy Draft to Kochi Municipal Corporation. Á Culture Policy for Kochi’ is a policy document to envisage culture as integral, place-bound, and resilient for the urban region of Kochi. This policy, the draft of which was handed over to the city corporation, strikes chords not necessarily with what is dominant and default. Rather the policy creates the space, context and a rejuvenated roadmap that takes culture beyond mere backdrop or mere privileges of select. Kochi with this cultural policy is making a template that is ever more nuanced, just, inclusive, embodied, and creative. The uniqueness in terms of history and socio-spatial evolution has brought in particular challenges as well as opportunities in imagining newer designs for Kochi.
