Dr. LIRAR PULIKKALAKATH

Dr. Lirar Pulikkalakath is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of International Relations and Politics (SIRP), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. He joined the faculty of SIRP in January 2014. He is also Chairman of the Centre for India Diaspora Studies, Coordinator of KPS Menon Chair for Diplomatic Studies and CH Mohammed Koya Chair, Mahatma Gandhi University. He also officiates as the Social Science Coordinator of the International Centre for Polar Studies (ICPS) at Mahatma Gandhi University. Dr. Lirar also serves as the Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), SIRP, adjunct faculty at the Institute for Multidisciplinary Programmes in Social Sciences (IMPSS), Programme Officer of National Service Scheme (NSS) campus unit, Mahatma Gandhi University. He is also the Editor of the South Asian Journal of Diplomacy and Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Politics and International Relations and Journal of International Politics. 
Dr. Lirar Pulikkalakath has previously worked as a lecturer at KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri. He received his MA from the University of Calicut and MPhil. and Ph.D. from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His specialization lies in ‘West Asian Studies’ and ‘Issues in Contemporary International Relations’, with a focus on ‘Migration, Diaspora’, and Refugees in International Politics’. He has published several articles in reputed journals and contributed to edited volumes on topics related to current world affairs, West Asian and North African politics, international migration, and the global displacement crisis, as well as issues related to Malayali migration. He co-edited a book titled Migrants and Displaced Amid Covid-19: Issues, Challenges and Policy Options. Dr. Lirar has also authored several timely articles in Malayalam and English for web portals, newspapers, and magazines. He has also presented papers at several national and international seminars and conferences and has addressed several forums on current social, political and economic issues.
