Dr Bijulal M.V, Assistant Professor, SIRP and Principal Investigator, ANRF Project titled: “Effect of Social Institutional and Technological Interventions on Access to Healthcare among Interstate Migrant Labourers in Kerala” coauthored an article titled “Inclusive by Design: The Palakkad Promise” in the Times of India.
The article examines the social and cultural integration of interstate migrant workers in Kerala, with the Palakkad district emerging as a model of inclusive practices. Despite Kerala’s migrant-friendly image, the ANRF fieldwork reveals ongoing challenges in healthcare and social inclusion. Palakkad’s success lies in community-driven efforts like women’s collectives, employer support, and grassroots literacy programs. These initiatives foster cultural exchange and social cohesion. The article urges Kerala to build on its human rights legacy by shaping inclusive, dignity-driven policies for migrant workers.
He co-authored the article along with Hariram S. S, Field Worker, ANRF Project titled: Effect of Social Institutional and Technological Interventions on Access to Healthcare among Interstate Migrant Labourers in Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University.
