The Centre for Migration Policy and Inclusive Governance (CMPIG) and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation proudly hosted a thought-provoking virtual discussion titled “A Decade in Detention: The Fight for Citizenship” on October 10, 2024. The event aimed to shed light on the pressing issues surrounding citizenship, detention, and the rights of marginalized communities.
Chaired by Dr. Chhaya Bhardwaj, Associate Professor at O.P. Jindal Global University, the session featured insights from Ms. Nargis Choudhury, a Research Scholar from The Assam Royal Global University. Ms. Choudhury shared her compelling fieldwork-based narrative, highlighting the struggles faced by individuals and families caught in the complex web of detention and citizenship issues over the past decade.
The discussion provided an engaging platform for participants to explore the broader implications of detention policies, the fight for citizenship rights, and the need for reform in the current legal frameworks. Attendees included researchers, policymakers, and advocates who actively contribute to migration and human rights discourse.
The CMPIG and Anusandhan National Research Foundation are committed to fostering informed dialogue on critical social issues, advocating for the rights and protections of marginalized communities, and promoting policy reforms that prioritize human dignity.
