Dr. Amal Pullarkkattu Pushkaran is an Assistant Professor (on contract) at the School of International Relations and Politics at Mahatma Gandhi University. He holds a Ph.D. from the Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies at the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Prior to his academic role, Dr. Amal’s journey encompassed tenure as a Research Fellow at the Media and Parliamentary Studies department of the Kerala Legislative Assembly in Trivandrum. His expertise in the post-Soviet studies led to the award of the prestigious European Commission’s Erasmus Plus Scholarship, affording him the opportunity to engage in dedicated research at Lithuania’s Kaunas University of Technology. His exploration took him through thirteen European countries and various universities to share his insights through paper presentations.
Dr. Amal’s doctoral thesis is on the pervasive influence of the Soviet era on the ideological and cultural fabric of Kerala, India. His scholarship includes upcoming work on populism within the Baltic States for the esteemed Populism Encyclopaedia published by Springer. Furthermore, his analysis on the debate concerning Nationalism and Self-determination, featuring perspectives from figures such as Rosa Luxemburg and Vladimir Lenin, has published in the Indian Journal of Politics and International Relations affiliated with M. G. University. His exploration on the life and contributions of C. Keshavan has published by journel Malayalam Literary Survey by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi.
Dr. Amal’s academic inquiry extends to the historical dynamics of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, has published by the journal of Kerala Bhasha Institute. His thoughtful reflections span various media platforms as academic pieces. Dr. Amal also contributes as a reviewer for the journal Cogent Social Sciences, published by Taylor and Francis. His scholarly interventions also reaches paper presentations in various international conferences in India.
