Dr. AMAL PULLARKKAT

Dr. Amal Pullarkkat is an Assistant Professor at the School of International Relations and Politics at Mahatma Gandhi University. He holds a Ph.D. from the Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies at the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Amal’s journey encompassed tenure as a Research Fellow at the Media and Parliamentary Studies, Kerala Legislative Assembly in Trivandrum, and a contract faculty member at SIRP, MGU. His expertise in the post-Soviet studies led to the award of the prestigious European Commission’s Erasmus Plus Scholarship, affording him the opportunity to engage in dedicated research at Lithuania’s Kaunas University of Technology. Currently he is an Early Career Fellow at the Kerala Council for Historical Research (KCHR). His exploration took him through thirteen European countries and various universities to share his insights through paper presentations.
Dr. Amal’s doctoral thesis is on the pervasive influence of the Soviet era on the ideological and cultural fabric of Kerala, India. His publications includes analysis on the debate concerning Nationalism and Self-determination by the figures such as Rosa Luxemburg and Vladimir Lenin, the life and contributions of C. Keshavan, the historical dynamics of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and post Soviet democratisation of Baltic States. His thoughtful reflections span various on invited academic lectures, book reviews, media debates and popular journalistic pieces. Dr. Amal also contributes as a reviewer for the journal Cogent Social Sciences, published by Taylor and Francis. His scholarly interventions includes paper presentations in various international and national academic conferences.
