K.N. Gopinath, Chairman of the Kerala Institute of Labour and Employment (KILE), emphasized the critical role of scientific research in the effective utilization of labor resources during the inauguration of a workshop organized by KILE in collaboration with the Centre for Migration Policy and Inclusive Governance (CMPIG) at Mahatma Gandhi University.
Speaking at the event held at the School of International Relations and Politics, Gopinath urged young researchers to focus their studies on labor-related issues, underscoring the importance of evidence-based approaches in addressing the challenges facing the workforce today. He noted that informed research is essential for developing effective policies that enhance labor productivity and worker welfare.
The workshop was chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar, who highlighted the need for collaboration between academic institutions and policy-making bodies to foster research that translates into actionable strategies.
Contributions to the workshop were made by notable speakers including Dr. M.V. Bijulal, Rahul V. Kumar, Dr. M. Rafika Biwi, Sunil Thomas, J.S. Arija, and Navas M. Khadar, who shared their insights on various aspects of labor research and migration policy.
The collaborative effort between KILE and CMPIG aims to strengthen the research community’s engagement with labor issues, ultimately contributing to better policy frameworks and practices that support workers and their rights.
