Ms. Harisa P.A

 

Harisa P. A is a research scholar at the School of International Relations and Politics, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. She pursues her research under Dr. Mathew A Varghese. Her research portfolio encompasses a diverse spectrum of interests, including public space dynamics, urban studies, digital domains, religious transformations, and gender studies.
She completed her Masters and MPhil from Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam. Her ongoing research project, titled “Faith in Neo-Liberal Frontiers: On the Architecture of Public Space and Religiosity in Kerala,” holds a significant purpose. This project is a comprehensive exploration of the intricate relationship between faith and changing public spaces within the socio-cultural context of Kerala. Harisa places a distinct emphasis on gender dynamics and digitally mediated religiosity, acknowledging the profound impact of these factors within the contemporary socio-political landscape.
In the current global scenario characterized by neoliberalism, urban studies assume heightened importance. Urban spaces serve as epicenters for multifaceted economic, social, and cultural interactions. Harisa’s dedication to unraveling the complexities of these spaces is instrumental in dissecting the far-reaching consequences of neoliberalism, particularly in areas concerning religion and gender.
She is also a KCHR Fellow since 2022. As part of her research journey, she has engaged in an insightful exploration of the role of religion in the pandemic( covid 19) scenario during her Aspire Internship Program. Her diligent research and thought-provoking insights shed light on the intricate dynamics between faith, society, and crisis, offering valuable perspectives for understanding and navigating these unprecedented times. With a passion for scholarly inquiry and a commitment to contributing to the field, she continues to inspire and elevate the discourse in her pursuit of knowledge
